The prestigious Honors College at UMass Boston welcomes first-year, current, and transfer students who excel academically, thrive on intellectual challenge, and seek to explore the world in new ways. 

Join a vibrant community of scholars who aspire academically and are eager to take their education to the next level. Students with a minimum 3.4 GPA at their most recent school (high school or college) are invited to apply.

Application Deadlines

• FALL semester: February 23 
• Spring semester: September 29

SPRING 2026 Applications are due September 29, 2025. 

High School Students

Invited applicants: If your UMass Boston acceptance letter includes an invitation to join the Honors College, follow the instructions provided on how to confirm your seat in the Honors College. There is no separate application process. 

If you did not receive an invitation to join the Honors College but have a 3.4 GPA or higher, you are strongly encouraged to apply directly to us. 

Currently Enrolled Students

Current UMass Boston students with a GPA of 3.4 or higher are encouraged to apply directly at anytime up to and including their junior year.

Transfer Students

Transfer students with a 3.4 or higher GPA from their most recent institution may apply after receiving their UMass Boston acceptance letter.

Graduates of a Commonwealth Honors Program should complete the Honors form to continue their honors experience at UMass Boston.
