Biography

Dr. Barrett earned a Nursing diploma at Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing, followed by a BSN from Salem State Universit. After earning an MSN from Boston College, she then earned a PhD in Nursing and Health Policy from UMass Boston. In addition, she also has ANA certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse clinician, with MA state license to practice in an advanced nursing role.

Additional Information

Clinical experience: staff nursing experience on medical intensive care unit, adult burn unit, neonatal ICU, adult and child psychiatry, and medical and psychiatric home care. Administrative positions as a nurse manager of a neonatal ICU, adult psychiatric unit, and nursing director of a psychiatric and addictions service. In the mental health field: worked in inpatient, day treatment, outpatient, homecare, and private practice. In addition to faculty position at UMass, also a Behavioral Health Surveyor for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare.
